POLICEMEN IN US WORKING FOR PRIVATE INDUSTRY

Dear John dal Santo,

this is a very important question i want to add on my intervew, as you told

me that in US policemen can work also in private sector, in Italy only medical police doctors are

allowed for for private medical activity but not allowed

for police officers tecnicians working in lab, or nurse etc. US recive rewards for theyr good work?, No they do not, in most Police agencies the Police officer must take a test to advance or get promoted, to make more money.......... police department rewards police

officers increasing theyr salary? for example. Is there a risk that a

policeman working privately due to his extra work reduces his skill in the

police activity? Yes there is this risk, however the police officer will most likely increase his skills because is still working in Law Enforcement, this depends on what type of work he is doing, most of the time a second job is in policing.... If a policemen arrests many people he gets extra pay? No they do not have quota's for arrest, this is against most laws here.

Salary in us police department vary from state to state? Yes, VERY much, in fact you may be making more money then a Police officer in a small town in Illinois. Since the money for Police comes from taxes here, it is up to the town or governmental body to establish the amount. At the State level the monies are much more, but also is the work and training.

Why the us legislation allowe police officers to work privately? It is a free country and can not restrict someone to make a living also they have a very strong Union here...... What

benefits gain both parts policeman and the country from this legislation

Yes a policemen can grow but is there a risk he reduce his skill in his

police activity? Yes this is always a risk for this, however it has never been address that way here, this is a very good question, the question has always been raised about safety and working a second job, but never his/her skills being reduced.

Please keep this in mind most agencies Police Officers must request or submit for part time work, most times it is granted.
