FRANCIA- FRANCE

Germania - Germany

In Germany does not exist a law like this, which reduces the  salary in  case of sickness. If a police officer get ill, he can stay for three days at home  without  a receipt of a doctor. After three days he has to got to a doctor  for a  receipt. If he is ill for a really long period the office can ask him to go to doctor or health service of the office.

Dear Ms. Zichella,

many thanks for your e-mail to the Bundespolizei.

I would like to respond to your request.

German police officers receive their full salary during absences as a result of sickness. In this respect no difference is made between sickness caused during duty as result of an accident or sickness that originated in the private area of life.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Dear Ms. Zichella,

many thanks for your e-mail to the Bundespolizei.

I would like to respond to your request.

German police officers have to see a doctor normally on the first day of sickness. This may be a special doctor of the police or an normal practitioner. Due to the federal structur of germany, the police forces of the german states and the federal police have different procedures on this point. In special cases the officer can also be asked to see the socialmedical service of the respective police forces. A visit at the home of a sick officer could only occur in extraordinary cases.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

SWEDEN- SVEZIA

Nicola
My name is Claes Erik Claesson. I am working at the National Police Board i Sweden with health and work environment tasks.
I got your mail some days ago and will try to answer your question(-s).
In Sweden we don´t have any special "police doctors" who will check the condition or the health of the police officers after a period with sick leave. We have a system with independent occupational health serviceteams. It´s the same system in the Police force as in the rest of the labour market i Sweden.
In this team you will find medical service, ergonomic specialists and psycologists.
Best regards

Hungary Ungheria

Dear Nicola Zichella,

We kindly inform you that in Hungary a police officer’s salary is not
reduced because of getting illness.
It stays 100 percents.
It doesn’t matter that the illness is connected to duty or not.
So we get full of our salary if we have a medical problem.

Best wishes to our Italian collegues,

Communications Department of
National Headquarters of
Hungarian Police

POLAND- POLONIA

Dear Mrs Zichella,
I would like to kindly inform you that polish police officer in case of illness recieves 100% salary.
Polish police officer in case of illness ought to inform immediate superior about it and priovide medical certificate (there is no specific time).
There is no sudden medical control of ill officers. Despite that there are departments in police which can control legal reasons of medical leaves.
Yours Sincerely,
Piotr Matysiak

United Kingdom Regno Unito

Gretings from the UK!
I can confirm that Police Officers in England remain on full pay for 6 months if they are sick. Pay is reduced to 50% after 6 months, but only if the absence is not related to an injury on duty. After 1 years absence an officer will be placed on no pay (if the illness is not due to an injury on duty.)
I hope the above is of assistance to you.
Regards
Christine

from Christopher Locke editor in chief of Constabulary magazine

In UK they have tightened up now a great deal on sickness as so many officers
were off sick regularly. Some forces now send a Doctor to officers house if
sick
and if they are not sick they may have to go back to work. Other forces
identify
those off sick a lot and then they are called to see force Doctor to find
out why.

They do not reduce pay is off sick yet but if it works in Italy they may
consider it
in UK.
